    Trip Description

    In the land of lamas where history speaks about wonders and the culture is rich, will you spend time to peek a glance? Yuksom is the place where you find the perfect serenity with a scenic view from every corner of it. The first capital of Sikkim (a tiny state in the northeast corner of India) is the base for many prominent peaks and treks. Goechala is one of them, with an altitude of 4602 M is a mountain pass between India and Tibet and is an option in Nort East that would not make you think twice.  The trek has a plethora of interesting wildlife and an abundance of views. If you want to challenge yourself with an ample amount of fruits this is the right place to choose. At the foothills of mighty Kangchenjunga strives beautiful birds like a rare golden duck (ruddy shelduck), red panda, blue sheep, snow leopards and other countless creatures waiting for your presence to be felt. Not only this, it offers a majestic view of the southeast face of Mt. Kangchenjunga, the world's third-highest mountain from the Goechala Pass. This amazing trek is nestled in the Kangchenjunga National Park, one of the greenest regions in the world. The best time to do this trek is March - April, and September to December depending upon your preference of season.

    Includes

    • Hotel/Guest House accommodation on the arrival and the last day of the trek in Yuksom.
    • During the trekking, the accommodation provides all-season camping tents on twin sharing basis with sub-zero temperature rating sleeping bags.
    • During the Camping, Hikers 360 provides cleaned sleeping bags with dry clean individual liners for hygiene.
    • Meals: Delicious, Hygienic & nutritious vegetarian meals on all trek days.
    • Snacks: Morning Tea, Evening Tea/Coffee and Soup with Snacks.

    Basic Instructions

    • Do carry a valid ID proof and undertaking form at the reporting time.
    • Carry enough warm clothes, as per the trek weather. Also, bring waterproof trekking shoes.
    • Do not carry expensive valuables with you during the trek. Basecamp doesn't have locker facilities and takes no responsibility for them.
    • Keep your luggage minimum; the less you carry, the more you hassle-free.
    • Smoking, drinking, and all other intoxications are strictly prohibited during the trek. If the trek leader finds anything, the leader reserves all the right to cancel your trip.
    • The network connectivity is bad in the mountains; tell your guardians or friends beforehand.
    • Treat the kitchen and support staff with respect and speak to them kindly.
    • On the trek, decisions taken by the trek leader are final.
    • Don't use earphones during the trek; this might hinder your audibility.
    • Avoid using plastic bags and maintain the ecological balance of the destinations.
    • Keep plastic rappers in a trash pouch during the trek and dump them in the campsite’s garbage bag.
    • The trek takes place through an eco-friendly zone; don't encourage littering at the local sites or campsites.

    How to Reach

    How to reach Yuksom by Road

    One can reach Yuksom from Geyzing using shared or private taxis. There are taxis and no direct buses to Yuksom, the only way to reach Yuksom is through taxis from Geyzing (70), Tashiding (30), Pelling (60) and Gangtok (140). Take early morning taxis because it will be difficult to find shared taxis after 12 PM.


    How to reach Yuksom by Train

    The nearest railway station is New Jalpaiguri (NJP) which is 150 km away from Yuksom. NJP is well connected to various states of the country. Once you reach NJP can book a taxi to Yuksom or can get shared Taxis from the outside of the railway station. One should leave NJP by 10 AM as it takes 9-10 hours to reach Yuksom.


    How to reach Yuksom by Air

    The nearest airport is Bagdogra Airport, located 170 km away from the main town of Yuksom. The airport receives flights from various major cities across India. From here, one can easily hire a cab or take a taxi to Yuksom. Even you can move to NJP/ Siliguri from there you will get shared taxis for Yuksom.
