The Har Ki Dun trek, also known as the "Valley of God", is a wonderful trek in the Garhwal Himalayas. The Har Ki Dun trek commences from Sankri. The road to Sankri will go through Mussoorie- the "Queen of the Hills", and we will cross Purola, Mori, and Netwar before finally reaching Sankri village, the base camp of the trek. On the side of the road, keep your eyes to spot several popular tourist places. The ride to Har Ki Dun base camp becomes more enjoyable after you cross Mori. Purola is the last halt that has an ATM in case you need to withdraw cash and all, and there you get the last network point & the internet after that, you don't get stable networks. Jio & BSNL is the only efficient service available in the Sankri zone with limited providers.
Report early morning at pickup point and directly head off on a car drive to the Sankri village, which is the hub of the seven more treks. It will take 8 - 9 hours to reach Sankri. It's located at a height of 1,950 meters. After freshening up, you will get limited time to explore the Sankri village market nearby, as the market gets closed soon because you reach in the evening. The market in Sankri, where you get regular non-branded trekking gear like a poncho, rain-coat, rucksack covers, trekking poles, Head torch & batteries and many more small items, in case you need last-minute shopping for the trek ahead. The overnight stay in a hotel/homestay.
You can book transport from us, which will pick you up from Dehradun Railway Station in the morning at 6:00 AM. Bolero cab costs 7,000 and will be shared by 6-7 trekkers, and Tempo Traveller costs 11,000 and will be shared by 11-12 trekkers. The transport charge is not included in the trek cost. It is to be split amongst trekkers and pay the driver directly. Otherwise, you can easily reach Sankri by road transport from Dehradun, Haridwar and Rishikesh.

After having breakfast, we'll drive to Taluka village, which is 12 kilometres from Sankri. Taluka is the starting point of the Har Ki Dun trek. We will start trekking to Pauni Garaat with our packed lunch as it will take 5-6 hours to reach our campsite at Pauni Garaat, which is 10 kilometres in the distance. The trail is mostly flat with a few small ascends, and it's through the thick forest of chestnuts, walnuts, willows, chinars and a variety of conifer trees. You will come across a few waterfalls and bridges on your way. After trekking for a few kilometres, there comes the Gangaar village but wait; it's not your destination to reach. You guys have to trek a few more kilometres to reach Pauni Garaat, which is a way more beautiful campsite covered with all green land of local and nearby stream flowing gives us more pleasing feeling. After reaching the campsite, you can relax and enjoy the beauty of nature. Overnight stay in camps.

We will start in the early morning as the climb is a little tough as compared to the previous day's trek and the distance is 8 kilometres, which takes 5 -6 hours to reach the campsite Kalkattiyadhaar. The trail crosses 3 "Garaat" and beautiful farmlands of villagers' temples and finally crosses a bridge. Now the path becomes a little tough as you start climbing the steep part of the trail. You will witness local people working in their farmland, cattle and sheeps grazing through those land and a beautiful waterfall visible from far. After the final incline, you will get fabulous viewpoints to steal glimpses of the mountain range out front. Now by crossing this windy ridge and walking for 20 minutes, you finally reach the beautiful campsite Kalkattiyadhaar. Enjoy the weather and chill winds there. Sleep early in the night as you have to trek to Har Ki Dun Valley the next morning. Overnight stay in tents.

Today we will start the early morning as compared to other days to spend more time at Har Ki Dun. Excitement for today should be high as you are going to visit the beautiful Har Ki Dun valley. As we start our trek, the trail gives an impressive view of the valley; during this route, you will cross a few water streams or, say, waterfalls and then open up into a wide valley. We are surrounded by mesmerizing mountains which give fabulous views. You finally reach the Har Ki Dun valley, sit there and spend some quality time admiring the Swargarohini Peak, which is at an elevation of 6200 meters, Hata Peak, Black Peak. After exploring the valley, creating memories for a lifetime, we will start preparing to return. Since we can't camp at the site, so we will return to our campsite. After having breakfast and packed lunch with us, we will start our trek, which is a return journey. But this time, we take a different trail that goes through Osla village. This village has a rich cultural heritage whose men and women still wear traditional clothes. Also, it is said that the village is a preacher of Duryodhana of Mahabharata. This village has beautiful wooden houses and a 2000-year-old Temple. Your trek journey will be joyous while going through this village, which is untouched by civilization. After reaching the campsite, enjoy the peace, the beautiful surroundings and the nightlife of the mountains.

Today we will retrace the same trails till Taluka, which is a 5-hour trek—mostly descending and flat trails. Admire the beautiful view one last time, the thick forest, waterfalls and walk along with the river by your side. After reaching Taluka, we board our vehicle to reach Sankri. We will reach Sankri in the evening, and the overnight stay will be in the homestay.

Today you will leave for Dehradun from Sankri as your trek to Har Ki Dun ends here. Check out the hotel after breakfast. If you have booked the transport with us, Bolero/ Tempo Traveler or a similar vehicle will pick you up from Sankri and drop you in Dehradun by evening. The journey will take 8-9 hours to reach the drop point at Dehradun railway station. So, it's advisable to make your further bookings late in the evening or keep a margin of at least 2-3 hours.

The base camp for the Har Ki Dun Trek is Sankri village located in Uttarkashi district, Uttarakhand. Buses and cabs are available from Dehradun, Rishikesh, or Mussoorie to Sankri Village. The road to Sankri will go through Mussoorie, Purola and Mori. Sankri village is a remote location and the roads can be challenging, especially during the monsoon and winter season. A shared taxi or bus from Dehradun to Sankri takes approx. 10-12 hours. Sankri bus and sharing taxi leave early morning, so it is advisable to plan the journey accordingly.
Note: - The bus journey from Delhi to Dehradun takes 6 to 7 hrs for 250 KM. It is advisable to book your tickets around 10-11 pm in the night to reach the early morning for your trek to avoid delays.
The nearest railway station to Sankri village is the Dehradun railway station, which is well-connected to all major cities of the country like New Delhi, Lucknow, Jaipur, Ajmer, Mumbai, Lucknow, Varanasi, Patna, Kolkata, Bangalore and Chennai circuitously. The railway station is located at the heart of the city, which is 3 km away from ISBT. Cabs, autos and sharing rickshaws are easily accessible for exploring all parts of the city. You can take a taxi or a bus from the Bus stand and Railway station to Sankri Village.
The nearest airport is Jolly Grant Airport Dehradun, approximately 220 km from Har ki Dun base camp Sankri. Domestic flights connect Dehradun with Delhi, Chandigarh, Bangalore, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Kolkata. Once you reach the airport, you can take prepaid taxis outside, which can be transferred to the central city of Dehradun and then continue the journey to Sankri Village by road.

Har Ki Dun is an easy level trek ideal for both beginners and seasoned trekkers. For beginners, it is a great start to enter the world of trekking. It can get a bit rigorous for the first timers as you have to walk 10 – 12 km daily. It is recommended to maintain a good physical stamina before coming to this trek.
The best time for the Har Ki Dun trek is during April to June and September to November. During the Har Ki Dun trek, temperatures can vary depending on the season. In summer (April to June), expect pleasant days around 12°C to 22°C and cooler nights around 4°C to 8°C. You can carry medicines prescribed by your doctor, if any. Although we have our First Aid kit with us on each trek, we suggest you carry some painkillers, Volini spray, kneecap, Electrals/ORS, etc.
Generally, people prefer Diamox for easy acclimatization, but we strictly avoid this kind of acclimatization. We encourage our trekkers to a natural acclimatization process. Hence you shouldn't be on the Diamox course before the start of the trek.
Drinking Alcohol or any other intoxication during the trek is strictly prohibited. Alcohol or this type of stuff dehydrates our body and at high altitudes, dehydration becomes a big cause of Altitude Sickness.
We have expert leaders who are experienced in First Aid on all our events but still, there might be situations under which an emergency evacuation might be needed. If this kind of situation arises, we are committed to making a safe evacuation for you in an emergency. Also, we will make all necessary & adequate arrangements for your evacuation to the nearest road head or hospital. The participant himself would pay any additional expenses incurred during the process. Our company will not be liable to pay for these expenses.
The maximum group size of our treks by any region is 15 participants. We focus on individual attention and the safety of our trekkers.
Yes, we do have our minimum group size as we require just 5 persons to depart. We had never cancelled or combined with other trekking companies any of our group of 5 persons from departure dates.
The toilet tents will be set up on each campsite. Inside the toilet tent, one pit hole would be digged with the help of a shovel, a heap of mud and one shovel kept beside the pit (it is used to spread the mud after you have done your business). Use it in Indian style.
