The Kedarkantha trek commences from Sankri. The road to Sankri will go through Mussoorie- the "Queen of the Hills", and we will cross Purola, Mori, and Netwar before finally reaching Sankri village, the base camp of the trek. On the side of the road, keep your eyes to spot several popular tourist places. The ride to the Kedarkantha base camp becomes more enjoyable after you cross Mori. Purola is the last halt that has ATM in case you need to withdraw cash and all. There you get the last network point & internet after that; you don't get stable networks. Airtel & BSNL is the only efficient service available in the Sankri zone with limited providers.
Report early morning at pickup point and directly head off on a car drive to the Sankri village, which is the hub of the seven more treks. It will take 8 - 9 hours to reach Sankri. It is located at a height of 1,950 meters. After freshening up, you will get limited time to explore the Sankri village market nearby, as the market gets closed soon because you reach in the evening. The market in Sankri, where you get non-branded trekking equipment like a poncho, raincoat, rucksack covers, trekking poles, Head torch & batteries and many more small items, in case you need last-minute shopping for the trek ahead. The overnight stay in a hotel/homestay.
You can book transport from us, which will pick you up from Dehradun Railway Station in the morning at 6:00 AM. Bolero cab costs 6500 and will be shared by 6-7 trekkers, and Tempo Traveller costs 9500 and will be shared by 11-12 trekkers. The transport charge is not included in the trek cost. It is to be split amongst trekkers and pay the driver directly. Otherwise, you can easily reach Sankri by road transport from Dehradun, Haridwar and Rishikesh.

This day begins your trek from Sankri to Juda ka Taal which is the first campsite. Juda ka Taal is at an altitude of 9000 feet and a 5 kilometres distance from Sankri. It will take 4-5 hours to reach this campsite. We begin our day with a briefing about the trek and the use of equipment like spikes and gaiters. The leader will give a demonstration of how to wear them. The trail is through the beautiful pine forest, which starts just after a short 10-minute walk from the village. The gradient of the trail is easy, ascending to the campsite. The ascends are gradual as you have a walk at a steady pace in a zigzag manner. This trek is full of flora and fauna, but it's hard to come across wildlife on this trek during winter. After walking for a few hours, the trail opens up into large meadows where you'll see small tea huts that serve Omelette, Maggie and hot beverages. We'll have our packed lunch there and take a short halt. From here, the campsite is just an hour away and as you gain altitude, you'll start seeing beautiful Himalayan ranges in the background. The most prominent peak is Swargarohini. Overnight stay in tents.
Altitude: 10450 feet | Trek Distance: 4 KM | Trek Duration: 3-4 Hours | Trail Grade: Easy
We will start our trek after having breakfast. Our first stop will be at Juda ka Taal, a lake that freezes during winter surround by pine forests. Here you can easily walk on the frozen lake or try gliding on it, and it is a thrilling experience. Today we'll trek to base camp, which is 4 kilometres in the distance, and it will 4-5 hours to reach there. The gradient of the trail is a bit steeper than the previous day. You continue to walk in the pine forest, which later on opens up into a beautiful meadow. Sometimes your leader may take up the opportunity to teach you how to ascend and descend on the snow. Now finally, you reach the stunning campsite for the day. At night, the snow-clad mountain peaks view is amazing as they shine bright in the moonlight. After an early dinner, you go to sleep as we will start the trek for the summit at 2:00 AM. So. Better you pack your daypack with the necessary items like waterproof gloves, water bottles, headlamps, snacks, dry fruits, etc., before you sleep.

Today is the big day, as we'll start our Kedarkantha Peak summit trek. As mentioned before, we will start early in the morning before sunrise with our headlamps. As we trek for an hour and a half, we'll come across two small huts that offer refreshments on the way back from the summit. The altitude of Kedarkantha is 12,500 feet which now take two and half hour to reach from this point. You will be walking a snowy trail that starts getting steeper from here and even sometimes, you find yourself in knee-deep snow. The sunrises are a beautiful thing to see on the mountains, so try to make it to the summit before the sunrise and admire the 360-degree views of the majestic Himalayas surrounding you. The most prominent peaks that are visible from the top are Swargarohini, Bandarpoonch, and Black Peak. Also, you will see various ranges of the mountain like Gangotri, Yamunotri, Har Ki Dun and Rupin from the top. After spending some time there admiring the views and sunrise, we'll head back to base camp. The initial descend will be as steep as ascend, so be careful with the first 1 kilometre. We will take a short halt at the small huts which encountered while coming up. As we reach our base camp, we'll have a hot meal there and after that, head towards the next campsite, Hargaon. It will take about an hour and a half to reach. Overnight stay in tents.

This day is the last day of the Kedarkantha Peak Trek. So, wake up early morning to catch the sunrise at your last super gorgeous campsite. Today's trek distance is short as you'll be walking through the pine forest till Sankri. It will take 2 hours to reach there. After a short break at Sankri and you collect your left luggage from the hotel/guesthouse.
If you have booked the transport with us, Bolero/ Tempo Traveler or a similar vehicle will pick you up from Sankri village and drop you in Dehradun by evening. The journey will take 8-9 hours to reach the drop point Dehradun railway station. So, it's advisable to make your further bookings late in the evening or keep a margin of at least 2-3 hours.

The base camp for the Kedarkantha Trek is Sankri village located in Uttarkashi district, Uttarakhand. Buses and cabs are available from Dehradun, Rishikesh, or Mussoorie to Sankari Village. The road to Sankri will go through Mussoorie, Purola and Mori. Sankari village is a remote location and the roads can be challenging, especially during the monsoon and winter season. A shared taxi or bus from Dehradun to Sankri takes approx. 10-12 hours. Sankari bus and sharing taxi leave early morning, so it is advisable to plan the journey accordingly.
Note: - The bus journey from Delhi to Dehradun takes 6 to 7 hrs for 250 KM. It is advisable to book your tickets around 10-11 pm in the night to reach the early morning for your trek to avoid delays.
The nearest railway station to Sankri village is the Dehradun railway station, which is well-connected to all major cities of the country like New Delhi, Lucknow, Jaipur, Ajmer, Mumbai, Lucknow, Varanasi, Patna, Kolkata, Bangalore and Chennai circuitously. The railway station is located at the heart of the city, which is 3 km away from ISBT. Cabs, autos and sharing rickshaws are easily accessible for exploring all parts of the city. You can take a taxi or a bus from the Bus stand and Railway station to Sankri Village.
The nearest airport is Jolly Grant Airport Dehradun, approximately 220 km from Kedarkantha base camp Sankri. Domestic flights connect Dehradun with Delhi, Chandigarh, Bangalore, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Kolkata. Once you reach the airport, you can take prepaid taxis outside, which can be transferred to the central city of Dehradun and then continue the journey to Sankri Village by road.

You can carry medicines prescribed by your doctor, if any. Although we have our First Aid kit with us on each trek, we suggest you carry some painkillers, Volini spray, kneecap, Electrals/ORS, etc.
Generally, people prefer Diamox for easy acclimatization, but we strictly avoid this kind of acclimatization. We encourage our trekkers to a natural acclimatization process. Hence you shouldn't be on the Diamox course before the start of the trek.
Drinking Alcohol or any other intoxication during the trek is strictly prohibited. Alcohol or this type of stuff dehydrates our body and at high altitudes, dehydration becomes a big cause of Altitude Sickness.
We have expert leaders who are experienced in First Aid on all our events but still, there might be situations under which an emergency evacuation might be needed. If this kind of situation arises, we are committed to making a safe evacuation for you in an emergency. Also, we will make all necessary & adequate arrangements for your evacuation to the nearest road head or hospital. The participant himself would pay any additional expenses incurred during the process. Our company will not be liable to pay for these expenses.
The maximum group size of our treks by any region is 15 participants. We focus on individual attention and the safety of our trekkers.
Yes, we do have our minimum group size as we require just 5 persons to depart. We had never cancelled or combined with other trekking companies any of our group of 5 persons from departure dates.
The toilet tents will be set up on each campsite. Inside the toilet tent, one pit hole would be digged with the help of a shovel, a heap of mud and one shovel kept beside the pit (it is used to spread the mud after you have done your business). Use it in Indian style.
