Markha Valley Trek is one of the most popular and fascinating trek routes in the Ladakh region. Markha Valley offers you a completely unparalleled mix of its unique Buddhist culture as well as its barren landscapes. The Markha Trek takes you on a beautiful journey where prayer flags welcome you on the high passes as well as to the villages in Markha Valley. Markha Valley trekking is a slightly more challenging trek as compared to other treks in Ladakh, with loads of stream crossings, steep ascents, and descents from two high passes and long day walk and trekking all through Markha river, so it is recommended for experienced trekkers. The Markha Valley trek route goes through various villages of Markha Valley, such as Rumbak, Shingo, Skyu, Sara, Markha and Hunkar. Trekking across the Ladakh region also brings an opportunity to spot Blue Sheep and Ibex over the shaky slopes very often. Markha Trek even offers a view of Stok and Zanskar Valley, which makes you awestruck. While crossing these villages, you get to see nomadic families herd their yaks in this valley. The major highlights of this trek are Techa Gompa monasteries, Hemis National Park and a view of Kang Yaste Mountain. Ladakh region has few more treks to offer other than Markha Valley named Sham Valley Trek, Stok Kangri Trek, Kang Yatse II, and Chadar Trek.
The Markha Valley trek best time to visit is in the months of July to September because, during these months, you get perfect weather.
