Satopanth Tal is a holy lake at an altitude of 15100 ft. from the sea level in Uttarakhand. The lake is considered to be of religious significance to the Hindus. It is believed that the Pandavas trekked through this route trying to reach the “SWARGA”. But unfortunately, the Pandava’s died on the way to Swarga on different places on this trek. It was Yudhistir, who made it to Swargarohini where a “Rath” came to take him to heaven. It is also believed in Hindu Mythology that Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu, and Lord Shiva visit Satopanth Tal on Ekadashi day to take a dip in the lake. It is also said, that the water of the lake is so pure and clean that if a small piece of grass gets into the water, the bird picks and throws it away. So it’s the purest lake over there.
