The Stok Kangri is the highest mountain in the Stok Range of the Indian Himalayas in the Ladakh Region. Stok Kangri has its charm amongst the trekkers and mountaineers, as it is the highest trekkable peak in India. It stands at an elevation of 6153 meters. It is higher than the highest mountain in Europe, Mt. Elbrus, at 5642 meters and marginally higher than the highest mountain in Africa, Mt. Kilimanjaro, at 5895 meters. Yes, it beats the two highest peaks in two different continents of the world and, without a doubt, the crowned jewel of India. During the entire trek of the Stok Kangri, the only biggest challenge is the summit day. You have to negotiate with subzero temperatures and trails that go through glaciers, scree, and narrow ridgelines. This day is 10-12 hours long, and its climb for the final summit starts at midnight with headlamps on. Although it does not require any technical experience for trekkers by no means, it is meant for beginners. The tough climb to the top is worth it because of its fantastic 360° view of the range. You can even see the Karakoram Range along with Zanskar Range from the Stok Kangri. Stok Kangri is once a lifetime experience for every trekker's dream. Ladakh region has few more treks to offer other than Markha Valley named Sham Valley Trek, Markha Valley Trek, Kang Yatse II, and Chadar Trek.
