The Vasiki Tal trek commences from Gangotri. The road to Gangotri will go through Uttarkashi and Harsil. On the side of the road, keep your eyes to spot several popular tourist places. The ride to the Vasuki trek base camp becomes more enjoyable after you cross Uttarkashi. Halt for some time to watch out for the pretty town of Harsil.
As you know, Gangotri is the place of origin of the Ganga River. It is one of the Dham of the Uttarakhand Char Dham Yatra. Gangotri is situated on the banks of the Bhagirathi River at 10200 feet in height.
You can book transport from us, which will pick you up from Dehradun Railway Station in the morning at 6:00 AM. Bolero cab costs 9,000 and will be shared by 6-7 trekkers, and Tempo Traveller costs 15,000 and will be shared by 11-12 trekkers. The transport charge is not included in the trek cost. It is to be split amongst trekkers and pay the driver directly. Otherwise, you can easily reach Gangotri by road transport from Dehradun, Haridwar and Rishikesh.

The Gangotri to Chirbasa trek is the first leg of the popular Gaumukh Tapovan trek. It covers a distance of approximately 9 kilometres and takes around 5-6 hours to complete. The trail from Gangotri to Chirbasa is relatively easy and mostly flat, with a gradual ascent. The path passes through dense forests of pine and deodar trees, with the sound of the Bhagirathi River accompanying trekkers throughout the journey.
The initial section of the trek passes through a few small settlements and temples. After walking for about an hour, the trail enters a dense forest of pine and deodar trees. The trekker can enjoy the fresh mountain air and the sound of the Bhagirathi River flowing nearby.
After walking for about 5-6 hours, we reached a small hamlet campsite Chirbasa, situated at 11650 feet. The campsite is picturesque, with the Bhagirathi River flowing nearby and the towering Himalayan peaks in the backdrop. Trekkers can spend the night at Chirbasa, acclimatizing to the altitude and enjoying the stunning views of the surrounding mountains. The night sky is also a sight to behold, with thousands of stars twinkling in the clear mountain air.

The trek from Chirbasa to Bhojwasa is relatively easy, and you can expect to complete it in 3-4 hours. The trail starts from the left bank of the Bhagirathi river and takes you through a dense forest of deodar trees. Walking, you'll pass several waterfalls and small streams, making the trek more enjoyable. As you gain altitude, the views become even more stunning, with snow-capped mountains towering over you in the distance. Keep an eye out for the colourful Himalayan birds that flit about in the trees, and listen to the sound of the gushing river below.
After about 3-4 hours of trekking, you'll reach Bhojwasa campsite, a base camp for trekkers heading towards the Gaumukh Glacier and Tapovan. The campsite is located on the banks of the Bhagirathi river and offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains.

Wake up early and enjoy the panoramic view of the Bhagirathi group of peaks. After having breakfast, trek to Gaumukh, which is 5 kilometres from Bhojwasa, it will take 3-4 hours to reach Gaumukh, the Ganges source. Gaumukh is a "snout" of the glacier from where the river originates. Earlier, it probably appeared like a Cow's mouth; hence, sages called it Gaumukh. After spending a few minutes at Gaumukh snout, we'll start trek for Tapovan, one of the finest high-altitude alpine meadows in the area. The trek from Gaumukh to Tapovan is a steep ascend, and as we climb, the view of the surrounding peaks becomes more apparent. Tapovan is a campsite that is also a base camp for Shivling peak. The trek to Tapovan is through rocky terrain, filled with rock boulders, moraines on the glacier, even open crevasses. So, you have to be careful or can use your trekking poles. Tapovan is also a place where Sadhus come for meditation. After reaching the campsite, do not forget to admire the sight of the Mt. Shivling, Mt. Meru and Bhagirathi peaks. This place is perfect for solitude, so relax and enjoy the mesmerizing views.

Today is again a big day as we head to Nandanvan via Gomukh glacier. Nandanvan is a base camp for the Bhagirathi Peak expedition; it is a vast meadow with many alpine flowers with lush greenery. The trail from Tapovan leads from the upper section of the meadow till down and onto the glacier. As you reach Gomukh, turn towards Nandanvan (4340 meters) and steering on the right one will be on top of the Gangotri glacier. The glacier runs between two ranges of mountains, and the landslides make a layer of rocky moraine on the ice, which makes walking on the glacier much easier. But the glacier walk is very slippery, and a slight lack of concentration would be dangerous. Huge crevasses gaped here and there. After walking, for about a kilometre and a half, there is a steep ascent. Big moraines en route offer grips and footholds, but many of them are deceptive too. Finally, you reach the Nandanvan campsite after a challenging climb. Dinner and overnight stay in tents.

Wake up to the beautiful campsite of Nandanvan and astonishing views of Mt. Shivling, Meru Pass and Thalay Sagar. After having a wholesome breakfast, we'll start our morning trek along with Chaturangi Glacier to reach Vasuki Tal, a beautiful base for Mt. Satopanth and Mt. Vasuki Parbat with a small lake. The trek trail involves a steady upward climb, and the climb is technically difficult because you will need the equipment. On reaching Vasukital Lake, admire the amazing view and surroundings. After exploring the area, trek back to Nandanvan. Arrive in 6 hours and overnight stay in tents.

Today, we will retrace our trail from Nandanvan to Cheerwasa. The trek involves crossing the Gaumukh glacier once again, it is all fun and adventure mixed, and it takes 5-6 hours to reach the campsite. Admire the panoramic view of Nandanvan meadow one last time. Overnight stays in tents.

Wake up early in the morning to cherish the few last moments in front of legendary mountains, which are shining in the bright sun rays. Now it's time to take the memories back after having breakfast and packed lunch with us. We'll start our trek to Gangotri. The terrain is the same as you covered on your first day of the trek. Few ascends and descends; you continue to walk till you reach the Holy town of Gangotri. Check into the hotel there, take a fresh hot bath and visit the most famous and sacred Temple.

Today is the last day of the Vasuki Tal trek, which is the departure day when the trekkers need to return to Dehradun. Check out the hotel after breakfast. If you have booked the transport with us, Bolero/ Tempo Traveler or a similar vehicle will pick you up from Gangotri and drop you in Dehradun by evening. The journey will take 8-9 hours to reach the drop point at Dehradun railway station. So, it's advisable to make your further bookings late in the evening or keep a margin of at least 2-3 hours.
Buffer day only will be used in case of bad weather or other unexpected conditions on the trek, and the trek leader will take the call.
If buffer day is used, you must pay us an additional (INR) 3150 per day (INR) +5% GST. Trek Leader will collect the money if you use the buffer day. If the reserved day is not used, then you can use it to visit Mussoorie.

Gangotri can be reached by road from Dehradun, which is well connected by road with the major cities of Uttarakhand. Buses, shared taxis and cabs are available from Dehradun to Gangotri. The road to Gangotri will go through Mussoorie and Uttarkashi. Gangotri is a remote location and the roads can be challenging, especially during the monsoon season. Bus and sharing cab leave early morning, so it is advisable to plan the journey accordingly.
Note: - The bus journey from Delhi to Dehradun takes 6 to 7 hours for 250 KM. It is advisable to book your tickets around 09-10 pm in the night to reach the early morning for your trek to avoid delays.
The nearest railway station to Gangotri is the Dehradun railway station. It is well-connected to all major cities of the country like New Delhi, Jaipur, Mumbai, Patna, Kolkata, Bangalore and Ahmedabad circuitously. The railway station is located at the heart of the city, which is 3 km away from ISBT. Cabs, autos and sharing rickshaws are easily accessible for exploring all parts of the city. You can take a taxi or a bus from the Bus stand and Railway station to Gangotri.
The nearest airport to Gangotri is Jolly Grant Airport, approximately 22 km from Dehradun City Centre. Domestic flights connect Dehradun with Delhi, Chandigarh, Bangalore, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Kolkata. Once you reach the airport, you can take prepaid taxis outside the airport, which can be transferred to the central city of Dehradun and then continue the journey to Gangotri by road.

If you are carrying out your trekking activity in early summer or late autumn, the nights will be very cold, so don’t forget your warm clothing!

You can carry medicines prescribed by your doctor, if any. Although we have our First Aid kit with us on each trek, we suggest you carry some painkillers, Volini spray, kneecap, Electrals/ORS, etc.
Generally, people prefer Diamox for easy acclimatization, but we strictly avoid this kind of acclimatization. We encourage our trekkers to a natural acclimatization process. Hence you shouldn't be on the Diamox course before the start of the trek.
Drinking Alcohol or any other intoxication during the trek is strictly prohibited. Alcohol or this type of stuff dehydrates our body and at high altitudes, dehydration becomes a big cause of Altitude Sickness.
We have expert leaders who are experienced in First Aid on all our events but still, there might be situations under which an emergency evacuation might be needed. If this kind of situation arises, we are committed to making a safe evacuation for you in an emergency. Also, we will make all necessary & adequate arrangements for your evacuation to the nearest road head or hospital. The participant himself would pay any additional expenses incurred during the process. Our company will not be liable to pay for these expenses.
The maximum group size of our treks by any region is 15 participants. We focus on individual attention and the safety of our trekkers.
Yes, we do have our minimum group size as we require just 5 persons to depart. We had never cancelled or combined with other trekking companies any of our group of 5 persons from departure dates.
The toilet tents will be set up on each campsite. Inside the toilet tent, one pit hole would be digged with the help of a shovel, a heap of mud and one shovel kept beside the pit (it is used to spread the mud after you have done your business). Use it in Indian style.
