Your journey to this amazing Yunam Peak begins from Manali. At 07:00 AM, we will pick you up from the hotel and start the day with a thrilling and very scenic drive to Keylong and crossing the famous Rohtang Pass at 3978 metres on the Leh-Manali highway. This fanatic adventurous ride will take you far from Manali's hustle-bustle to Keylong's far more isolated place. The landscape keeps changing from beautiful to pristine like scenes of huge and empty mountains, snow-covered Rohtang Pass, Tandi- where the Bhaga and Chandra Rivers meet, and the village of Sisha or Sissu where there is a magnificent temple of Raja Ghepan- the presiding deity of Spiti - Lahaul valley. After covering 120 - 140 kilometres from Manali, we reach the Keylong/Jispa area in the afternoon. We will go for a short acclimatization walk in the evening to prepare for the following days. Overnight stay at guesthouse/camp.

Today after having breakfast, we'll drive to Bharatpur Camp, located 4-5 hours by road away from Jispa. At 4500 metres, Bharatpur is a beautiful roadside campsite in the vast cold desert of Lahaul Valley. Here you get to see some of the famous white peaks of Himachal from the campsite. To make this drive more fascinating, we take short and rewarding halts at the two very famous and mesmerizing Lakes of Lahaul Valley, Deepak Taal Lake and Surya Taal Lake. Suraj Tal Lake is a sacred lake, recognized as the Lake of the Sun God. The source of the Bhaga River, which later joined with river Chandra at Tandi and is called Chandrabhaga in Himachal, lies below the Baralacha-La pass (4,890 metres) third-highest lake in India. On our way to Bharatpur, we will cross Baralacha La, the highest motorable mountain pass. We will reach Bharatpur at noontime and set up our campsite at Bharatpur. On this day you can spend exploring the nearby shops and dhabas. Overnight stay in tents at Bharatpur.

This day is reserved for Acclimatization and rest, as we have gained massive altitude by road journey and will start showing its colours. Mild headache, nausea, breathlessness, and loss of appetite are common symptoms. Therefore, day four is kept entirely to adjust to the climate at this height and let the body tune with thinning air and temperature hitting the lows. It is highly recommended to take a lot of fluid intake and little walks around the landscape rather than sitting or sleeping in tents.

Wake up early in the morning as we'll start today's trek to base camp early, around 07:00 AM. This day will be challenging as we'll be trekking for 4.5 kilometres of a steep climb on a gradually gaining ascent curve. The Trek timespan can go a little over 5 hours. The terrain is full of boulders, and the moraine zone will make inexperienced climbers prone to slipping. After crossing this section, the trek especially needs to be done with crampons or microspikes, as in the later half of the trek, and you will come by dense snow patches. During this trek, you don't need to carry 2-3 litres of water as there will be many water points on the way. After one particular turn, the trail will continue along a water stream till you reach Summit Camp. We're expected to reach Summit camp by mid-noon. The campsite has lovely views making it a picturesque location. As we are at high altitude and prone to get Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS), so we need to take some precautions like staying hydrated and getting properly acclimatized. Overnight stay in tents.

Today will also practice a few climbing techniques like how to wear crampons, wearing shoes, ascend and descent in snow techniques, fixing ropes and carabiners, and knot practising.
Altitude: 20050 feet | Trek Distance: 13 KM | Trek Duration: 8-9 hours | Trail Grade: Difficult
The trek to summit attempt will start early in the morning, around 02:00 AM. The Yunam Peak is at an altitude of 6111 metres, which will be a tiring effort to cover a distance of around 6.5 kilometres. The whole terrain is mixed mostly moraine, sharp rock edges, scree, and heavy snow-covered paths. There is only one drinking water point on the trail to the summit, so you need to carry 2 to 3 litres of water in your daypack. As we keep ascending the trail slowly, you start getting breathing difficulties, so try to stay hydrated. After a long stretch of non-technical climbing, we reach the summit of Yunam Peak. You'll get an astonishing view from the top and will be mesmerized and feel proud of this accomplishment of standing at an altitude of 6111 metres dominating the Lahaul Valley. From the top, we sight the glorious peaks of the Chandrabhaga Group and the Mulkilla range of mountains. After clicking some memorable pictures, we make our way back to Summit Camp, where we will rest for the whole day.

Today is the last day of your Mt. Yunam trekking journey. We will start our descend to Bharatpur after having a wholesome breakfast, and it will take 2 hours to reach. It's an easy descend but has to be very careful while descending on this rocky terrain full of scree and moraines to get our vehicle waiting to continue our journey to Manali by road, which will take around 7-8 hours to get there. Make your further travel booking accordingly.
The best and most economical way to reach Manali is by road. Manali is very well-connected to the famous tourist destinations in Himachal, Chandigarh (310 km), Delhi (540 km), Ambala (370 km) and Dehradun (227 km) through state-run and private buses at a reasonable cost. During the long-distance journey to Manali, it is advisable to choose Volvo buses over ordinary buses, to ensure a more comfortable journey in the mountainous terrain.
Note:- The bus journey from Delhi to Manali takes 14 to 16 hrs for 550 km and it is advisable to book your tickets around 12- 02 pm in the noon to reach early in the morning for your treks and to avoid delays.
Manali does not have a railway station. Joginder Nagar Railway Station is the nearest railway station to Manali, but it is not connected to major cities of the country. So it’s not that convenient as compared to Chandigarh junction. The nearest major railway stations are Chandigarh (310 km) and Ambala (350 km), which is well connected with major cities like New Delhi, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Lucknow, Indore, Patna, Kolkata, Guwahati, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Chennai, circuitously. From there you can take prepaid taxis which take 7 to 8 hours to reach Manali from Chandigarh and Ambala and 9 to 10 hours by public transport (Ordinary and Volvo Buses).
The nearest airport is at Bhuntar, located approximately 50 km away from Manali. Domestic flights connect Bhuntar with Delhi and Chandigarh. However, owing to weather conditions, flights are not the most reliable option for getting to Manali. Once you reach the airport, you can take prepaid taxis outside the airport, which can be availed to get transferred to the main town of Kullu and Manali (fare 600- 1000 approx.).
Chandigarh airport is also one of the nearest International airports to reach Manali. It only takes 7 to 8 hours to reach Manali from Chandigarh by taxi and 8 to 10 hours by public transport. The major airlines operating in this airport are IndiGo, AirAsia India, Jet Airways, Spice Jet, Air India, Go Air, and Vistara.

We expect you to carry your personal backpacks on your own, but for any reason you are not able to carry your bag, then you can opt for offloading option by informing us 7 days before the trek so that we can make suitable arrangements for you and offloading in between the trip is not an option.

You can carry medicines prescribed by your doctor, if any. Although we have our First Aid kit with us on each trek, we suggest you carry some painkillers, Volini spray, kneecap, Electrals/ORS, etc.
Generally, people prefer Diamox for easy acclimatization, but we strictly avoid this kind of acclimatization. We encourage our trekkers to a natural acclimatization process. Hence you shouldn't be on the Diamox course before the start of the trek.
Drinking Alcohol or any other intoxication during the trek is strictly prohibited. Alcohol or this type of stuff dehydrates our body and at high altitudes, dehydration becomes a big cause of Altitude Sickness.
We have expert leaders who are experienced in First Aid on all our events but still, there might be situations under which an emergency evacuation might be needed. If this kind of situation arises, we are committed to making a safe evacuation for you in an emergency. Also, we will make all necessary & adequate arrangements for your evacuation to the nearest road head or hospital. The participant himself would pay any additional expenses incurred during the process. Our company will not be liable to pay for these expenses.
The maximum group size of our treks by any region is 15 participants. We focus on individual attention and the safety of our trekkers.
Yes, we do have our minimum group size as we require just 5 persons to depart. We had never cancelled or combined with other trekking companies any of our group of 5 persons from departure dates.
The toilet tents will be set up on each campsite. Inside the toilet tent, one pit hole would be digged with the help of a shovel, a heap of mud and one shovel kept beside the pit (it is used to spread the mud after you have done your business). Use it in Indian style.
